Getting Started
Because selecting a study abroad program requires time and planning, we encourage you to stop by our office early in your academic career. There you may research programs in our resource library, obtain the names of students who have recently returned from a particular program, or meet individually with a study abroad advisor. Use the following checklist to help you get started: Step 1: Think about your goals and objectives. Why do you want to study abroad? What do you hope to gain from the experience? More questions to ask. Step 2: Read about the different types of programs available to you. Step 3: Look at program descriptions. Step 4: Attend a general information session to learn more about your options and Colorado College policies related to study abroad. Anyone at any stage of the planning process is invited to attend. The earlier you start, the better! Step 5: Meet with a study abroad advisor. Call or stop by our office to set up an appointment. Step 6: Meet with your academic advisor to discuss which programs are especially good for your major and how they will fulfill academic requirements. Step 7: Decide on programs and apply.
