Summer in Italy
May - July
Beginning Italian (IT111) is a course designed for students with no previous knowledge of Italian. Language instruction will include basic grammatical structures and patterns with oral drills, readings, and written exercises. Students will have many opportunities to practice their language skills in real life situations.
The first two weeks of this course will be spent in Villetta Barrea overlooking a lake, in the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park, and the next four weeks in Silvi Marina, a picturesque town on the Italian coast. The course will be supplemented by field trips to such locales as Venice, Rome, Spoleto, Florence, Assisi, Rimini, and the Tremiti Islands.
Consent of instructor is required.
Intermediate Italian (IT211) or Advanced Italian (IT311) will include a review of fundamentals of Italian grammar and a daily study of additional grammatical patterns. Coursework will include written and oral composition in the context of Italian culture experienced by students in the course. Lectures and discussions will focus on Italian art, music, and cultural history.
The first two weeks of this course will be spent in Villetta Barrea overlooking a lake, in the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park. The remaining weeks will be spent in Sorrento on the Amalfi coast. Both language courses will include field trips to such locales as Venice, Rome, Spoleto, Florence, Assisi, Rimini and the Tremiti Islands.
Consent of instructor and IT101/111 or IT201/211 is required.
Program fee (in addition to tuition): $4,200 includes round trip airfare from a major US city to Rome, lodging, all meals, course related activities and transportation in Italy.
