Current Interests
During the 2002-03 academic year I spent my sabbatical leave in travel
and research on indigenous religious traditions, including visits to Native
American communities. As a result of that work, I developed the advanced
course on shamanism in multiple forms. Recent travels took me to India
and in the fall of 2006 I was engaged in the planning and presentation
of our college-wide symposium: "Religion and Public Life: Why Be
Afraid?"
