Creating
Queer Monsters:
The Scapegoat Mechanism at Work
in the Exclusion of Homosexuals

Christine identifies three social institutions from which homosexuals
are excluded:
Boy Scouts, marriage, adoption. She uses Freud's category of unheimlich
and Beal's term "too muchness" as stereotypes of the monstrous
and demonstrated how they have been used in representations of homosexuals
to make them scapegoats, subject to "stereotypes of persecution" identified
by Girard.
