Students
The department strongly encourages and supports student research and independent study. All economics majors complete a senior thesis research project, working under the supervision of a faculty adviser. Over the years, many students have seen their research findings presented at major academic conferences or published in leading research journals. The department also awards prizes each year to the outstanding senior thesis research projects
The Faculty-Student Collaborative Research Grants also support student research by paying students stipends to work closely with faculty on research projects during the summer months. The Minority Scholars Program, sponsored jointly by Colorado College and the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, provides minority students with a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with a faculty member on a research project. Participants in the Minority Scholars Program also meet twice with participants from other ACM colleges to share their findings and learn more about academic careers.
