Professor Walt Hecox

Capsule Biography

Walter E. Hecox, who received his Ph.D. from Syracuse University (1969), is Professor of Economics at Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado where he specializes in courses and research related to international economics issues as well as regional resource and sustainable development questions.

His background includes:

· Election to Phi Beta Kappa; recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to do research in Pakistan (1964-65)

· Designation as a National Defense Education Act Fellow at Syracuse University (1965-68)

· Selection as Project Director for a National Science Foundation Faculty Curriculum Project (1975 & 1976)

· Recipient of a Senior Fulbright Teaching Fellowship in Pakistan (1976-77)

· Staff advisor and Project Supervisor for the Executive Director, Colorado Department of Natural Resources (June, 1979 - July, 1981)

· Visiting Scientist, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (September, 1981)

· Trade and Tariff Policy Advisor to Government of Kenya under World Bank auspices (1982-1984)

· Short-term consultant to numerous national governments, bilateral agencies and multilateral groups in Africa and Asia

Senior Fellow, Grand Canyon Trust (1994-1997)

Professor Hecox has managed and performed research for the World Bank, U.S. Agency for International Development, Southern African Development Coordination Conference, U.S. Military Academy, Ford Foundation, National Science Foundation and U.S. Department of Energy.
