On the first day you will be provided with a 3-ring notebook for use in compiling
the various records relating to your comprehension of the subject matter of this
course. There will be dividers for separation of the course syllabus, your class
and lab notes, the exam questions/responses, and your research paper. With regard
to the latter, your notebook should include a listing of bibliographical sources
(including web sites) consulted in preparation of the research paper, as well
as copies of those journal articles or those web pages found to be most useful.
It also would be advisable for you to incorporate a personal journal in the notebook
recording questions/thoughts/insights arising day-by-day as the course proceeds.
If you need additional dividers to facilitate organization of the notebook
as you would like, these should be requested from the departmental secretary.
As indicated, the Course Notebook is intended to be a comprehensive and lasting
record of your learning experience in this course. It also will serve to keep
your attention focused in an orderly manner on the several components of the
syllabus and to assist the instructor in his evaluation of your over-all performance.
