White House Home Page-Excellent source for government speeches/documents, information on Fast track renewal, Research and Development programs, and social/economic statistics.
USITC  Home Page-Objective trade expertise, trade statistics, and current news releases. Very good for information on trade complaints and petitions filled with the USITC.
United States Trade Representative-Reports of trade barriers, trade agreements, information of progress of NAFTA, Section 301, WTO implementation. Also useful for speeches given by current and formal USTRs.
US Department of Commerce-Direct information from the office of the secretary regarding the Commerce Strategic Plan and good source for links to other sites.
International Trade Administration-Detailed site for recent trade events and missions for US government institutions. Also documents individual countries and their trade relationship with the US.

Economic Statistics

1996 Statistical Abstract of the United States-Statistics on everything from US population growth to international law enforcement. Very thourough and easy to browse.
Fedstats: One Stop Shopping for Federal Statistics-Basic macro/microeconomic statistics that range from everything from education to international trade to infrastructure development.
Economic Data and Links-Mainly statistics on the US economy. Also excellent source for data on China.
U.S. Census Bureau Home Page-The most current site for specific statistics on trade balances, historical data on trade, and individual country information.
CenStats-A web site created by the US Census Bureau that offers statistics and census information that is not availiable to the general public. CC is a subscriber. Click on Censtats and then subscriber. User name-Charles, Password-vesta.

NAFTA

North American Free Trade (NAFTA) Border Home Page-A good site to connect to other sources regarding specific NAFTA information.
Organization of American States-Full text on trade agreements, general information on NAFTA, and trade opportunities and information from Mexico.
NAFTA facts-Provides easy access to NAFTA documents and information on the impact of NAFTA on US industry, jobs, environment, and overall economy.
US Agriculture and NAFTA -Summary of reports regarding the impact of NAFTA on US agriculture and exports.
Trade and Environmental Database-An excellent site for finding the trade disputes that have occured in North America, ranging from Avocado disputes to the Salmon wars. Many of the conflicts are related to NAFTA. The home page also offers detailed reports on trade conflicts and agreements around the world.
European Union
         European Union Page -Official releases on European integration, information on future conferences, and
           excellent statistics on the status of the EU. Also discusses the politics of international trade in Europe.
        Maastricht Treaty -Includes the provisions, amendments, and present and future goals of the EU.
           EU Headlines -Current news releases on the status and acheivements of the EU.
 
US-China Relations
         China's MFN Status (negative) -A speech given by USTR Barshefsky to Senate Finance Committee
            on why granting MFN status to China would risk US jobs and exports.
            China's MFN Status (positive) -Madeline Albright's speech outlining why MFN status would advance US
            leadership in Asia. A good comparison with Barshefsky's argument.
         China's Foreign Policy and Relations -Press releases on MFN status, bilateral trade, business
            cooperation, trade conflicts, and US-Sino ties. Excellent source if interested in China.
            China's International Trade Status-Well-documented source that offers a number of articles about the
            positives and negatives of international trade with China and granting permanent MFN status.
            Current Issues Regarding China from USIS-Includes documentation of the China-US summits, brief
            articles about US-China issues ranging from human right abuses to opening up Chinese markets. Good
            source for initial research.
            White House Press Release-May 1996 -Follows in detail the process of granting MFN status, including
            statements given by Clinton and USTR.
International Organizations
 
          OECD Washington Center Home Page-Detailed publications, speeches, and press releases regarding
          recommendations for international economic policies and trade.
          WTO Web Site-Detailed source for trade topics including intellectual property rights, environmental
          degradation, economic development, R&D advances, goods and services traded between countries. Also
          includes updated policy reviews and news releases.
          NATO Home Page -Information on how NATO continues to guaranty security to member countries
          following CIO. Not necessarily economic information but offers a lot of understanding on the relationships
          between member countries.
          World Bank Web Page-Includes great speeches on global integration, international finance, and important
          predictions for the future of world trade and development.
          International Monetary Fund Home Page-IMF promotes the exchange of orderly and stable agreements
          between 179 countries. The IMF meeting reports are excellent for current information concerning world
          trade conflicts and upcoming solutions to those problems.
          World Customs Organization -An independent international government body with world-wide membership
          whose mission is to enhance the effectiveness of international trade through a better customs administration.
          Discusses problems for global trade including slowdowns in infrastructure and intellectual property rights.
          International Organizations Link- A web site that lists and connects to every international organization you
          could ever want. Great for specific trade problems.
Miscellaneous
        Finance and Development -A journal published by the World Bank/IMF that offers full text articles on
           international trade and finance.
           WebEc -A good list of economic journals, some offering free articles on international trade and finanace.
           SIA Menu-Press releases concerning investments and industries abroad. Good source for information of
           foreign investment in US trade blocs/zones.
           CC Periodical Indexes-While not officially the web, databases such as FirstSearch, Requester, and
           UNIVerse all offer full text articles. A great source for detailed information regarding international trade.
