Questions over the readings

J. J. Wincklemann excerpts

What does Wincklemann think of Greek art? How does he use it to define beauty? (See pp. 122-127) How does he explain the relationship between Greek life and art?

Andrew Stewart, Art Desire and the Body in Ancient Greece

In reading the excerpt from Andrew Stewart concentrate on his discussions of  the Kroisos youth  63-70, the Tyrannicides, 70-75 and the Doryphoros 86-96.

How did Greek sculptors depict the ideal form?  What cultural traditions does Stewart cite to explain it?
