’70 Jacqueline Shidler McBride is co-owner and designated broker of Colonial Relocation, L.L.C., specializing in homefinding services for the tri-state region of New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. • Martha Arman Murphy is the proud grandmother of Max Murphy Bristol, son of Sara Murphy Bristol ’99 and her husband, Chris. Martha is a career education specialist with Southern Oregon Education Service District in Medford. ’71 J.R. Berry is vice president of regulatory services for Promissor, a Houghton-Mifflin company, in Bala Cynwyd, Penn. • John Dolson received the American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ Distinguished Public Service Award in April. John credits the perseverance and support of his wife and soul-mate, Debbie Hingston Dolson ’73, and Dick Beidleman, professor emeritus of biology, for providing the vision and ‘can do’ attitude needed to be successful in public outreach efforts. John is an exploration advisor with BP in Sunbury-on-Thames, U.K. • Robert Dupee owns WildWays Adventure Sports & Tours in Christina Lake, B.C., where he lives with his wife, Lucinda. • Darcy Goodman lives in Seattle, Wash., where she is a retired judge. • Jeff Morgenthaler authored “The River Has Never Divided Us,” a borderlands history published by the University of Texas Press. • Steve Tharinger was sworn in to his second four-year term as a county commissioner in Clallam County (Wash.). Superior Court Judge George Wood performed the ceremony. ’72 Jose Barrera teaches U.S. Southwest history, literature, and culture at Colorado College and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. In May, Jose gave an illustrated lecture at the Pioneers Museum entitled, “The Spanish and Mexican Frontier in Southern Colorado and The Pikes Peak Region.” • Sally Jo Button operates Button Financial in Lakewood, Colo. • Stephanie “Lee” Rowen lives in Seattle, Wash., where she is trying to figure out what to do next, after having worked on the human genome project for 12 years. She is currently a research scientist at the Institute for Systems Biology. • Bob Saul is senior clinical geneticist and training program director at the Greenwood Genetic Center in Greenwood, S.C., where he has been since 1979. He has also set up a Web site (www.fivesteps.org) to discuss ways to improve our communities. He writes articles for the local paper and has a manuscript being considered by The Pharos, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Mary Jordan Burch is a librarian at Lompoc High School in Lompoc, Calif. • David Eberle is the newest member of the Boise (Idaho) City Council after a run-off election in December. • Debby Dahl Edwardson owns her own publications firm, Edwardson Communications, in Barrow, Alaska. Her book, “Whale Snow,” received the Notable Books for a Global Society Award from the International Reading Association. The book was also listed in the 2004 edition of Bank Street’s “The Best Children’s Books of the Year.” Additionally, Debby edits a bimonthly newspaper and hosts a bilingual radio program. Her daughter, Rachel, graduated from CC in 2001, and her middle daughter, Susan, will be a first-year student in the fall. • Barbara Groth now lives in Denver, where she has started a new career in higher education and working with nonprofit arts organizations. “It feels very liberating to be a recovering lawyer.” • Paul Skan lives in Juneau, Alaska, where he is a doctor. ’75 Liz Brimm lives in Mattapoisett, Mass., where she is a founding partner of Nantucket Knee Pants.
’76 Malcolm Persen is the chief financial officer and vice president of finance for Radyne ComStream in Phoenix, Ariz. • Robert Willis is the president and C.E.O. of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce. Robert also serves on the boards of Mile High United Way, the Y.M.C.A., Lowry Redevelopment Authority, Shaka Franklin Foundation, and 100 Black Men of Denver. He lives in Denver with his wife, Jovanni, and their children, Skye, Brandon, and Payton. ’77 Peggy Lubchenco was named the 2004 Santa Barbara County Teacher of the Year. Peggy has taught seventh grade science at La Colina Junior High School for eight years. She lives in Santa Barbara, Calif., with her husband, Steve Gaines. • Christy Philipp owns the Big Dipper Ice Cream Parlor in Tiburon, Calif. ’78 Jane Schapiro Brown is the author of “Inside a Class Action: The Holocaust and the Swiss Banks,” which provides an insider view of the class-action lawsuit filed in 1996 against Union Bank of Switzerland, Swiss Bank Corporation, and Credit Suisse on behalf of Holocaust victims. It will be published in November by The University of Wisconsin Press. • Tom Cladis was at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Cherry Creek, Colo., in March to discuss and sign his book, “How to Lift Cars Off Your Face and Other Tips for Living Forever.” • Howard Lehman is the new alumni events leader for Salt Lake City, Utah. • David Mason wrote a book of poems, “Arrivals: Poems by David Mason,” recently published by Story Line Press. • Paul Pescatello is president/C.E.O. of Connecticut United for Research Excellence, in New Haven. ’79 Anne Hartley Anderson is a contracting officer with the U.S. Department of Energy, in Loveland, Colo. • Monica Hiltunen Anderson is the program assistant in the music department at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. • Kurt Hollberg operates the Hollberg Professional Group in Englewood, Colo. • Brad Winslow is manager of Artscapes in Kula, Hawaii. |
