About
the show:
Buntport Theater
creates their 18th production, not including the ever-increasing number
of Magnets on the Fridge (a live sit-com) and tRUNks (an all ages live
comic book) episodes. Join them as they take you back to the late 1800's
and into the world of Eleanor Bishop, a failed actress and semi-successful
medium, as she details the death of her son, famed mentalist Washington
Irving Bishop. Strange circumstances surround his life, career and death.
Prone to fits of extreme catalepsy, he was known the fall into death-like
trances for extended periods. During one such fit, doctors decided to
see if there was anything unusual about this performer's brain, thereby
killing him during his own autopsy. Come hear the story as related and
performed by his dramatic and over-wrought mother and the actors that
she has convinced to help... probably by promise of wages that they are
unlikely to see.
A funny
and touching trip back to a time of great spectacle, wonder and mystery.
This production
is underwritten by the Jeff Bridges Family Foundation and is made possible
by the generosity of this organization as well as by the Buntport audience
members who voted for it.
