Dear '79 Classmates,

You’ve got to ask yourself one question.  Do you feel lucky to be a member of the CC Class of 1979?  Did the CC experience help you realize that you were born to run?  And now, nearly three decades later, is your mind filled with images of a towering Rockies peak giving you a compelling desire to return to Colorado Springs for a close encounter of the Tiger- kind with your friends and classmates?  If so, plan to attend CC’s Homecoming, October 10 – 12, 2008  
to enjoy good times, fun events and share misty water-colored memories of the way we were.

This fall, we class of 1979ers are teaming up with the class of 1978 for a tremendous weekend of activities.  Friday night there will be a good ole’ fashioned western barbeque at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post.  Our classes will also gather in McHugh Commons on Saturday night for dinner prior to the hockey game and homecoming dance.  Homecoming this year will also feature the grand opening of the Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center Building, a marvelously designed center that will highlight the creativity of CC’s musicians, vocalists, actors, play writers, dancers and artists. 

At homecoming you will see a great deal of progress on campus and a very talented, passionate student body.  The strength of our alma mater reflects strong support for the college provided by alumni like us and other friends of CC.  We’d like to remind you of the Class of 1979 Scholarship that was first proposed and seeded in 1999 by our classmates Mike Slade and Dorothy Strand.  The scholarship is unrestricted, meaning it can be awarded to any student based on their financial need.  The first award was granted for the past academic year.  This year’s recipient is Bailey Griscom, Class of 2011 from Menlo Park, CA. 

The reunion committee has set an ambitious goal of 35% giving participation, which includes all gifts to the college in the 2008 calendar year. Please consider a gift in honor of our 30th reunion.
