CC Professor predicts China will top gold medal count at Beijing Summer Olympic games
The world will be hearing China’s national anthem more than that of any other country at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games – a resounding 44 times. China will also win more total medals than ever before with 89, just behind Russia’s 95, and the United States’ 103. That’s what economics Professor Daniel K.N. Johnson predicts this year. The economic formula devised in 1999 by Johnson and a fellow researcher considers only per-capita income, population, climate, political structure and home-nation advantage – with absolutely no information about individual athletes or competitions – to forecast the number of medals a country will win for the upcoming Olympic Games. >>

This summer Haley will present his first photographic exhibit in his hometown, Tacoma, Wash. His Delta-Sky images and a section about his travels titled "Sussing out Senegal" can be viewed here; the full issue is here.

Bon Appetit new food service provider at CC
Following an exhaustive and competitive bid process that began in November 2007, Colorado College has selected Bon Appetit as its new food service provider. Bon Appetit is a well-respected national company that offers food service to over a hundred other similar colleges and universities across the country. The finalists for the new 10-year food service contract were Bon Appetit and Sodexo (formerly spelled Sodexho). Both offered excellent bids that included commitments to substantial improvements in the quality and value of the food offered on our campus, a commitment to sustainability in food operations, significant upgrades to our dining facilities, and broad innovative additions to our 'community building' efforts through food. The new 10-year contract with Bon Appetit commences July 1, 2008. >>
