Class Officer Constitution
ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Colorado College Class Officer Program; which is comprised of officers for three of the four classes: Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
Section A: The purpose of the Colorado College Class Officer Program:
1. Plans and coordinates class activities.
2. Attempts to establish a sense of “unity” within each class.
ARTICLE III: OFFICERS AND DUTIES
Section A: The officers of the Colorado College Class Officer Program shall be: President, Vice-President, Public Relations/Communications, and Finance and Web Design.
1. To be eligible to run for office students must:
a. Be enrolled in good-standing.
b. Have the appropriate number of credits for the class year for which they are running.
c. Be on campus for duration of academic year.
d. Senior Class President and Vice President cannot be elected without prior class officer experience. COA required otherwise.
2. The duties of the President shall be:
a. To prepare the agenda and preside over all class meetings.
b. To supervise and encourage fellow class officers in the successful implementation of programs.
c. To assist with overall planning and coordination of class activities.
d. To work with the class advisor to coordinate all organizational activities.
e. To identify leadership groups within the class for assistance in carrying out organizational programs.
f. To be knowledgeable about and acquaint others with alumni programs.
g. For the senior class president, to lead the class procession at Baccalaureate and Commencement, and give the senior speech at Commencement.
3. The duties of the Vice President shall be:
a. To assist the Class President and serve in the absence of the President.
b. To succeed the President should the office be vacated.
c. To assist with overall planning and coordination of class activities.
d. To identify leadership groups within the class for assistance in carrying out organizational activities.
e. To be knowledgeable about and acquaint others with alumni programs.
4. The duties of the Public Relations/Communications Officer shall be:
a. To notify fellow officers of class meetings.
b. To take minutes at meetings and distribute them.
c. To assist with overall planning and coordination of class activities.
d. To identify leadership groups within the class for assistance in carrying out organizational programs.
e. To be knowledgeable about and acquaint others with alumni programs.
5. The duties of the Finance and Web Design Officer shall be:
a. To assist the class advisor in maintaining the class budget.
b. To present financial reports at class meetings.
c. To assist with overall planning and coordination of class activities.
d. To identify leadership groups within the class for assistance in carrying out organizational programs.
e. To be knowledgeable about and acquaint others with alumni programs.
f. To update and maintain class website.
Section B: The senior class officers of the Colorado College Class Officer Program shall be officers until at least their 5 th Reunion, at which time they may step down if so desired (or at subsequent reunions).
1. The Alumni duties for all shall be:
a. To maintain class ties and encourage participation in alumni activities after graduation.
b. To keep the college up-to-date on his/her address changes and to inform the alumni office of new information pertaining to classmates.
c. To serve as member of each reunion planning committee and make suggestions for other committee members.
d. Attend Homecoming when the class has a reunion.
2. Additional duties for President:
a. Writes initial “Call to Reunion” letter when asked by the alumni office.
b. Serves as chair of the reunion planning committee
ARTICLE IV: ELECTIONS
Section A: The elections of the Class Officer Program shall adhere to the following guidelines.
1. Elections will be held in Block VI or VII for positions to be held by incoming Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
2. Any student who meets the criteria for class officer can apply.
3. Applications must be turned in by the deadline to be part of the ballot.
4. Candidates shall be considered separately (no joint tickets or “co” positions).
5. All members of each class in good-standing are eligible to vote for their class officer.
6. Clear majority wins.
7. The term of office shall be, but is not limited to, one year. (Seniors are the exception as they hold their position until their 5 th Reunion, at which point they may step down if so desired)
Election and Campaign Rules
ARTICLE V: MEETINGS
Section A: The following meetings shall be held:
1. At least one individual class meeting each block with the appropriate class advisor present.
ARTICLE VI: REMOVAL FROM OFFICE & REPLACEMENT
Section A:
1. Two unexcused absences from a meeting or official function will result in removal from office.
a. Excuses must be approved by the class advisor before the event
2. Behavior that discredits you or the college, as generally determined by college rules and regulations, will result in removal from office
Section B:
1. The VP will succeed the President if he/she cannot fulfill his/her duties.
2. The positions of vice president, secretary and treasurer may be appointed.
