Boston - Project Bread - The Walk for Hunger
Helped run registration, checkpoints, acted as stationary marshals directing
and supporting the walkers or volunteered to walk.
Chicago - "The Tour of the North Shore"
in support of the American Cancer Society. Joined 800 riders cycling through
Chicago's beautiful and historic northern suburbs and along the scenic
North Branch Bike Trail, or helped out with pre-event set-up, registration,
rest stops, etc.
Colorado Springs - Colorado Springs Parks and
Recreation
Planted flowers at various sites downtown and in Memorial Park.
Dallas/Fort Worth - White Rock Lake Walk and
Spruce-up
Assisted Path, a local environmental group, in their clean up efforts
around the White Rock Lake area.
Denver - The Urban Farm - Stapleton Airport
Redevelopment Project
(cancelled due to bad weather)
Kansas City - Habitat ReStore
Assisted with various tasks in the store such as inventory, stocking and
repair.
Memphis - Lichterman Nature Center, Helped
maintain trails.
New York - 7th Annual New York Cares Spring Clean-Up
Day
Helped plant, groom, paint and clean area parks and community gardens.
Omaha/Lincoln - Children's Crisis Center
Participated in activities with the children such as reading and playing
games.
Portland - Salvation Army West Women's &
Children’s Shelter
Helped with general spring cleaning activities such as painting, cleaning
inside and out, yard work, organizing closets, etc.
Seattle - Food Lifeline
Repackaged bulk food donations into smaller sizes that can be more easily
handled and distributed by local food banks.
St. Paul/Minneapolis - Multiple Sclerosis Bike-a-Thon
Rest Stop
Helped run a rest stop for the 30-60 mile bike-a-thon.
Washington D.C. - Martha's Table
Provided staff assistance to the kitchen.
